Norman Hay celebrates 70th anniversary in 2016
January 1st 2016 marked the start of Norman Hay plc’s 70th year in business. The Group will be celebrating 70 years of innovation with a number of initiatives throughout 2016 involving colleagues, customers and the local community.
When established in 1946 by Norman Leslie Stephen Hay, Norman Hay Limited, as it was then known, began trading as an electroplating business in Putney, West London. Focussing on decorative electroplating, Norman Hay Limited plated everything from automotive grilles to bicycle bells.
The business quickly grew and moved to a purpose built electroplating and hard anodising facility near the new London Airport, now known as Heathrow.
Innovations, such as the HAYDAN constant wattage process for hard anodising aluminium and the integration of Europe’s first automated production line for electroplating plastics, ABS and Acetals, led to Norman Hay becoming one of the World’s largest electroplaters of metals and plastics.
Today, Coventry-based Norman Hay plc consists of four companies operating across six continents with customers spanning many industry sectors:
